TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Holiday shopping can put a dent in your wallet and the environment.
One local group shows that it’s not about expensive gifts with lots of packaging, but rather getting more sustainable items.
Full Circle Sustainability held its holiday market fundraising event Saturday with a multitude of second-hand items available for grabs.
From children’s toys to home decor, the market offered items for all ages.
Justine Greve says they hold events like these in hopes that people will see the benefits in gently used gifts.
“Toys, books, clothing there’s so much of it already in the world that we really don’t need to produce that much more. It’s already out there we just need to find a new home for it, a second home, and find someone else who will love it in the future. The exciting thing about gifts is getting something that’s new to you - it doesn’t actually have to be a new item,” said Greve, Full Circle Sustainability.
Full Circle Sustainability’s hours are Thursday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
