Plastic-Free Partying
If you're starting to plan the menu for a Super Bowl party, one way you can get around the issue of plastic silverware is to just serve finger foods. Use your creativity and internet-searching skills to come up with some recipe ideas. Chips and dip, veggies, sandwiches, deviled eggs, wings, a charcuterie board or sushi if you're feeling fancy.... So much "party food" is utensil-free anyway; it just takes a little planning to apply it to the whole meal.
As for the eating surface: round up all your plates (all styles and sizes!), ask guests to bring their own, or use napkins if the appetizers are small and not very messy. If you do use disposables, go with paper—or get a set of "disposable" plastic plates that you wash and reuse for parties in the future. Same goes for cups. Choose beverages in glass or cans instead of plastic bottles, and make sure the recycling bin is easy for guests to find!
Happy snacking (and Go Chiefs)!
