One Small Step

One Small Step

Every big thing happens through a series of small steps, and living more sustainably is an ongoing endeavornot something we can tackle or achieve all at once. If it feels like a lot to take on, think about some tiny things you can do to live a little bit more sustainably every day, week, or month. Could you:
  • Buy one item in metal or glass instead of plastic?
  • Sleep on your sheets one more time before you wash them?
  • Walk or bike to work on days when the weather is perfect?
  • Switch to toothpaste tablets for one brushing a day or once per week?
  • Eat local, pasture-raised meat once a month or substitute a plant-based protein for half the meat in your recipe?
  • Use local lettuce for half the greens in your salad?
  • TerraCycle the items we accept for free?
  • Turn down a plastic water bottle one time when it's offered to you?
The possibilities for "tiny actions" are endless, and they not only add upthey create the momentum and habits that will make future actions easier. There's nothing wrong with starting small or doing just what you can, when you can! It's often the most sustainable way to keep those positive changes going.

Here's to a new year of small steps, big strides, occasional leaps and probably a few stumbles . . . all forming a path that will become clearer over time and help others find their way forward!
