Apples - Winesap
Apples - Winesap
Two pounds of apples grown by South Baldwin Farms in their orchard located 20 miles south of Lawrence.
Winesap is a well-known American heirloom apple, and was a major commercial variety in Virginia during the 19th century. It can be eaten fresh but is primarily a culinary apple, used for cooking, baking, cider, or apple butter.
South Baldwin Farms does not follow organic practices, but they reduce pesticide usage via a variety of integrated pest management techniques. In addition, some of the pesticides they use are organic (OMRI certified), and they use drip irrigation to reduce water usage.
