Needs More Barstool!
We have a few things to tweak after our "Reopening Weekend," but our first (and most telling) reflection: We need more barstools! It was so wonderful to welcome you into our bright, new space and see some of you sit down at the "kombucha bar" to talk to us, talk to each other, or just take it all in. It speaks to how much Full Circle has become a space for connection. One where people feel closer to where their food comes from and more aware of where their recycling goes. A place where people connect with others who want to shop sustainably, eat locally, and reduce their impact on the planet.
We enjoyed talking to the reporter who came out from KSNT 27 on Friday because he asked good questions: What's different for Full Circle because of this move? What does this move allow you to do?
Some of that is evident as soon as you walk in. For example, with room for our new display freezers, you can finally see all the meat we have for sale! Or if you're a coffee drinker, you may appreciate that our coffee grinder is finally in the same room as the coffee!

Other benefits may be a little less obvious. Storing recycling takes an increasing amount of space. It's no longer just the dozen or so TerraCycle boxes we started with. We now accept standard recycling, clamshells, cartons, fabric, and items to donate to Scraps KC . . . all of which we hold onto until we have enough for a pickup, drop-off, or mailing. Then there are the supplies we need for events, such as our Fix-It Clinic or the clothing swap we did a few months ago. There are the 1,000 shopping bags we rescued from the landfill. There are the extra jars, bottles, and growlers we've acquired as our grocery program grows. There are the dishes we're accumulating to start a dishware rental service. The bins we're purchasing to offer more foods in bulk.

All that is to say: More space translates directly to more services, more events, more products, more opportunities we can say "yes" to. And, as the immediate need for more barstools shows, more moments of connection. This will be important in the next year as we work more actively to strengthen these connections, increase collaboration, build a coalition, and bring more voices to the table as we add more seats to the bar.
Thanks for sharing with us in the joy of our new room and in the hope we have for growth in the new year!
