First Fix-It Clinic Repair Report
Our first Fix-It Clinic was a resounding success! We were so impressed with our handy volunteers, who took on all sorts of puzzles and challenges with enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork. Here's a glimpse into a truly wonderful afternoon:
By the numbers:
- 21 total volunteers (14 providing hands-on repairs)
- 47 items brought in for repair
- 38 items fixed (with advice given on several more)!
Most popular items:
- clothing (16)
- lamps (7)
Most unique item:
- antique radio
Most unique repair tools:
- vintage hand-crank sewing machine
- specialty screwdriver made with a metal-cutting tool during the event to handle the weird screws holding together a fan
Most surprising fixes:
- blender with a broken plastic part
- CD player and VCR that seemed pretty iffy
Most beautiful fix:
- backpack with severe ripping around the zipper (left looking just like new!)
See below for images of the event or view the local news coverage on WIBW for an even better view of the day.
And mark your calendars for our next Fix-It Clinic on Saturday, November 15th! Stay tuned for more information on time of day and how to sign up if you'd like to volunteer.
