Delivering Efficiency

Delivering Efficiency

The primary reason we offer home delivery is because we want to make it easier to access all the products we offer. But a secondary reason is that delivery (at least the way we do it) is actually pretty efficient. Since we're delivering everything on one day as part of a couple big optimized routes, we're driving far fewer miles than we would if we were making individual deliveries—or if each person were driving separately to the shop.

We did the math on our delivery route last week to see how efficient it actually is and found that we saved 222.9 miles of driving by delivering to all households at one time, compared to making separate trips. And we do that 52 weeks a year, so the miles saved really add up! To further reduce our environmental impact, one of our delivery vehicles is an EV, and we purchase carbon offset credits to cover all of our delivery miles traveled.

Of course, we're always happy to see you at the shop, and it's the only (or easiest) way to recycle or refill your own containers. But when you can't make it in or have a simple order, rest assured that delivery is an eco-friendly option! Virtually every week, we're traveling southwest of Lake Sherwood, east of Lake Shawnee, north of the river, and sometimes even as far as Silver Lake, so chances are good that we're in your neighborhood anyway.

If you'd like to help us make local, sustainable products easier and more efficient to access, consider joining the delivery team as a regular or occasional volunteer!
