Introducing Meadows@Moonlight
You may have noticed the name of a new supplier on our featured image this week. Meadows@Moonlight is a small family market farm in Olathe run by Full Circle customer Satish Padarthi. Satish mentioned last week that he was growing okra, and our ears perked up! We started asking questions, and it turns out he's growing much more than that—and doing it all by hand without synthetic chemicals or pesticides.
Here's what Satish had to say about what they grow on the farm, why he started it, and the benefits it offers on every level: from the soil to his family to the broader community. Â
"We grow flavorful Asian and specialty vegetables, including long squash, okra, Gongura (Chin Baung in Burmese), lemon cucumbers and regular cucumbers, asparagus long beans, Chinese okra, and Kashmiri peppers.
"My 12-year-old daughter works right alongside me every step of the way—planting, harvesting, and learning the same hands-on lessons I value most. This is a family effort. We started Meadows@Moonlight after visiting several market farms around Topeka. Seeing and tasting the clear difference between store-bought produce and truly fresh, home-grown vegetables inspired us to create something of our own.Â
"We wanted our family—and our community—to enjoy food that actually tastes the way it should. Our growing methods are simple and intentional. We have no irrigation; we rely entirely on rain, supported by a thick base of tree mulch that holds moisture in the soil. We use no pesticides or synthetic chemicals. This keeps our time in the field manageable while protecting the soil, beneficial insects, pollinators, and the health of everyone who eats what we grow—including our own family. When I’m not in the garden, my priority is spending as much time as possible with my kids, making sure they grow up under the right influence—learning responsibility, patience, the value of hard work, and a real connection to where food comes from. Every vegetable at Meadows@Moonlight is harvested by hand and brought to market as fresh as possible. Come taste the difference—we’d love to share a little of what we’re growing with you."
