Each one is unique, featuring all reused materials, and comes with a note about the artist. She’s best known for her prairie landscapes featuring colorful skies and rolling hills dotted with native grasses and wildflowers. Her award-winning work has been included in the Visions of the Flint Hills Show and Symphony in the Flint Hills Art Auction. The Kansas Museum stores are among the many gift shops that sell her one-of-a-kind “Little Landscapes” mounted as greeting cards.

All of Kris’ art materials are post-consumer goods. She uses many textiles and techniques—piecing, applique, couching, felting, thread painting, and hand beading. Kris never buys anything new, using instead a vast selection of textiles from her family’s accumulation, creative reuse stores, and generous friends. Her goal is to take excess materials destined to the landfill and turn them into works of art. It's a rare day when she doesn’t have a needle in hand to sew something.
